Jacky has written such a perfect summary of her story with Matt that I couldn’t possibly do it better, so here it is for you…
Our Story
We met at Bunnings, which is probably where you'll still find us at 8am on any given Saturday... Matt worked in timber and trade, whilst Jacky worked in paint and homewares. We worked at opposite ends of the building, so we rarely crossed paths and it wasn’t until a work function six months later that Jacky finally learned Matt’s name. Tequila and dancing lead to Friday night catch-ups with friends and our relationship was made official on 19 June 2015 when we visited Matt’s dad and his family, and we were introduced as “boyfriend” and “girlfriend" for the first time.
In 2016, Jacky accepted a new job and "FIFO" became a significant part of our lives. It was a challenge, but something we’ve learnt to embrace.
The next five years were filled with fun: first house, four international trips, rescued fur-baby Eric, a few foster doggies, a business start-up, and numerous home renovations.
The Engagement
Under the stars, walking amongst the Field of Light at Uluru, Matt asked the question... There was no ring, no getting down on one knee, no one else around. Just us. Exactly as we wanted it.
The Wedding Day
Following that momentous day of their engagement, Jacky + Matt made a good start on getting the basics of their wedding booked in (venue, catering, photographer, celebrant) but then found they were a little stumped on how to continue, particularly in regard to the design and decor that would be needed to bring it to life.
They had a gorgeous cake stand they’d made themselves, and that had been shared amongst the family at times of celebration so we knew that had to be a focal point, and Jacky had her bridesmaids dressed in a rich burgundy which gave us a great head-start.
The day was laid out a little differently to most, with a ceremony and cocktail food service at Marybank Farm for their larger group of family and friends, followed by an intimate dinner at the Stirling Hotel for forty of their nearest and dearest.
While their doggos were not able to attend the wedding itself, Jacky + Matt got ready that morning in two different parts of the same B&B, and the fur-babies were able to be a big part of it all, including their First Look moments. We also didn’t let rain ruin the day, but simply moved the ceremony onto Marybank’s deck undercover of a clear marquee.
You’ve never seen two people so completely thrilled to have tied the knot so check out the pics below for their joy-filled day.
