When Erin and Jake swiped right on Tinder in late 2020, love bloomed even in the middle of COVID lockdowns. Erin knew right away that Jake was the one, and by February of 2023, they were engaged and ready to plan their forever. Fast forward to a perfect spring day at the gorgeous Inglewood Inn, their wedding was a celebration filled with pastel whimsy, heartfelt moments, and their beloved dog Ruby taking centre stage because she was celebrating her birthday, as well as her human’s wedding day!
Crafting a Pastel Spring Vision
Erin and Jake dreamed of a wedding that reflected their personalities: fun, laid-back, and full of heart. Their chosen colour palette—lilac, soft pink, sky blue, peach, lemon, and mid-orange—perfectly embodied the lightness of spring. Erin’s bridesmaids wore slate blue dresses, while Jake’s pink and blue paisley shirt added a fashion-forward touch to the theme.
Native flowers, a love of Erin’s, were a focal point, tying the colourful palette to the natural beauty of the Inglewood Inn’s lush surroundings. Ruby, their adorable bitzer pup, played an essential role in the day, proudly joining the celebration and making every moment feel more special.
Turning Inspiration into Reality
Erin’s Pinterest boards were brimming with inspiration, but like many brides, narrowing it all down into a cohesive vision felt overwhelming. Enter Sparrow Weddings & Events.
Erin described working with Emma as having a “personal cheerleader and planning expert” by her side:
“I loved having coffee catch-ups with Emma to discuss planning. My favourite meeting was when we fleshed out the theme and vision for the day. Going through Aisle Planner and swapping inspo pics helped bring it all together.”
From helping refine the colour palette to ensuring every detail aligned with their whimsical spring theme, Sparrow’s expertise made the planning process stress-free. Erin also appreciated the flexibility to make her own decisions while benefiting from Sparrow’s curated list of trusted vendors.
A Day Full of Meaning
For Erin, family was central to the day. With her parents and grandparents no longer with her, Erin’s Auntie Jo and Uncle Ken took their place in the front row as her VIPs. Their presence was a reminder of the enduring love and support of family.
The ceremony was a beautiful blend of joy and sentiment, with Ruby stealing the show as she walked down the aisle. Erin and Jake’s “first look” before the ceremony provided a private, heartfelt moment for them to connect before the festivities began—a memory Erin holds especially close.
Dancing Into Forever
When it came time to celebrate, Erin and Jake’s reception was everything they’d envisioned. From the vibrant pastel florals to the high-speed photo sesh with each of their guests, it was a true reflection of their love story. And when the formalities were done, they hit the dancefloor—and didn’t leave until the very last song!
One of Erin’s favourite planning decisions was hiring a content creator to capture snippets of the day. Originally booked through Sparrow, Emma stepped in seamlessly to find an alternative when the original vendor was unwell. The resulting videos are cherished memories of all the little moments that made the day special.
Reflecting on the Experience
When asked what it was like working with Sparrow Weddings & Events, Erin said:
“It was like having my own personal cheerleader and planning expert. Knowing I had someone with industry knowledge to guide me made such a difference. I still got to choose my vendors, but Sparrow’s recommendations made it so much easier.”
Her advice to future couples? Prioritise what’s most important to you and consider what will help you enjoy the day to its fullest. For Erin and Jake, having a planner meant they could focus on celebrating, knowing every detail was in expert hands.
